CANCÚN, Q.R. — Hurricane Beryl is churning its way toward Mexico. Now, a Category 3 hurricane, it has already left a path of destruction in the eastern Caribbean.
At least nine people have died. Beryl is expected to bring heavy rain to the Yucatan Peninsula and likely restrengthen in the Gulf of Mexico before making a second strike on northeast Mexico.
One spot in the path of Beryl is Cancun, a popular vacation spot for many people during the summer. Some are in Cancun and being told to shelter in place.
Among those people is Boone County Commissioner Jesse Brewer and his family, who spoke with WLWT as he prepares for the storm to make landfall.
