Boone County Fiscal Court Eliminates the Pet Licensing Fee

As Boone County continues to grow and evolve, I’m committed to reducing unnecessary costs for our families while supporting responsible pet ownership. The pet licensing fee established in 1995 has served its purpose, which included helping cover animal control and shelter services. However, with improved efficiencies in our animal services operations, I believe removing this $15 licensing fee allows responsible pet owners to keep more money in their pockets—without compromising public safety or animal welfare.

My vote to eliminate the fee reflects both fiscal prudence and compassion. It’s a step toward easing the financial burden on residents, encouraging compliance, and ensuring every pet is cared for without placing undue cost on their families.
