Turnout low across NKY as voters decide key races in primary election

COVINGTON, Ky. — Two weeks before tying the knot, Bo Honebrink of Fort Mitchell and Sam, his wife-to-be, have a lot to do.


But they carved out time this morning to vote in Kentucky's primary. Plenty of their Bluegrass neighbors were not following their example.


"It's a shame," he said as she looked on after casting her ballot. "I don't know how to make people feel, you know, some sort of patriotic duty just to take part in the process."


"This has been a nasty election cycle," said Boone County Commissioner Jesse Brewer, who is not on the ballot this year.


He's a Republican who offered an apology to voters about the controversial mailings and social media ads in the bitter 66th District race between Ed Massey and T. J. Roberts, even though he was not involved in any of it.
